After a stupendous success at Box Office, Chhaava to stream on Netflix from April 11

Following a phenomenal theatrical run, Chhaava, the historical epic starring Vicky Kaushal, is all set for its digital release. Netflix has announced that the film will begin streaming on its platform from April 11, marking a new chapter in the journey of one of the year’s most talked-about films.

Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under the Maddock Films banner, Chhaava is based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The film, which hit theatres on February 14, has earned critical acclaim and commercial success, grossing a remarkable ₹804.85 crore worldwide, including ₹599.2 crore from domestic ticket sales alone.

The OTT announcement came via Netflix’s official Instagram handle today April 4, featuring a striking poster and the caption: “Aale Raje aale. Witness a tale of courage and glory etched in time. Watch Chhaava, out 11 April on Netflix.”

Vicky Kaushal’s powerful portrayal of Sambhaji Maharaj has been widely praised, with the actor calling the role “an honour beyond words” and one of the most fulfilling experiences of his career. Apart from Vicky, Chhaava also features a stellar ensemble cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, Vineet Kumar Singh, Divya Dutta, Neil Bhoopalam, and Diana Penty. The film’s emotional weight is further amplified by a stirring soundtrack composed by A.R. Rahman, with lyrics by Irshad Kamil.

In just four weeks, the film climbed the ranks to become the third-highest grossing Hindi film of all time, surpassing even Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan in domestic earnings. Week-by-week, its box office performance remained strong—collecting ₹219.25 crore in its first week, followed by ₹180.25 crore, ₹84.05 crore, and ₹55.95 crore in the subsequent weeks.

Producer Dinesh Vijan expressed pride in the film’s journey: “Chhaava has been a labour of love. It’s not just a story of bravery, but a tribute to resilience, legacy, and sacrifice. We’re thrilled to bring it to a global audience through Netflix.”

With its Netflix release now imminent, Chhaava is poised to reach an even broader audience, taking the legacy of Sambhaji Maharaj beyond cinema halls and into homes around the world.
