Watch the trailer of Salman Khan starrer "Bodyguard"..

Salman Khan will be celebrating Eid with his latest film Bodyguard (also starring Kareena Kapoor) on August 31.  The trailer of the movie was released online on Thursday in an innovative marketing gimmick by Salman’s real-life bodyguard of 15 years Shera.

A very humbled and emotional Shera confessed that it was the biggest honor Salman had given him to unveil the film’s trailer. “For the past 15 years I have been telling bhai (Salman) that I would take a bullet for him. But the truth is that Salman can do anything for his loved ones. He is the real life bodyguard”

Talking about Shera, Salman stated “I can trust him completely. I can trust him with my money, women, family, life, before having alcohol and after having alcohol. He is completely trustworthy”, eventually joking that he hoped Shera never penned a book on him.

The movie directed by Siddique is a remake of the original in Malayalam with the same title and in Tamil as Kaavalan and were box office super hits.  Similarly keeping the tradition of Eid festival releases intact since the past two years with Wanted in 2009 and Dabangg in 2010, Bodyguard will also hit the theatres for Eid on August 31. And going by the promos, this will be a sure shot winner and a hat trick for salman releases on Eid, though the earlier two films by the lead pair Salman and Kareena were flops.  So what, they are sure to be third time lucky..

Bengali folk theatre to get Bollywood twist with “Mast Mast” girl and Salem’s “Darling”

This will be Bengal’s answer to Broadway!! Yeah, Bengali folk theatre popularly called “Jatra” is all set to get a Bollywood twist with “Mast Mast” girl Raveena Tandon and Abu Salem’s “Darling” Monica Bedi. While Raveena will play the lead role in "Roop Sagarer Roopasi" (Beauty of the Beautiful Sea), Monica will be seen in a jatra titled "Chirodiner Sathi" (Companions Forever).

According to director Kanak Bhattacharya of Roop Sagarer Roopasi, "Yes, we have signed Raveena for our show and the promos are already creating a flutter among the masses who love jatra. It is for the first time that a Bollywood actress of her repute will be seen in Bengali jatra that has mass audiences, particularly in small towns. She was very excited about the offer and we too are. The response has also been tremendous after we came up with the advertisement in newspapers.”

It seems that the show the promos are already creating a flutter among the masses that love jatra and "Roop Sagarer Roopasi" is expected to be a big draw this festive season. Talking about the nuances and deliveries of Bengali language, the director says that Tandon is in fact not quite new to Bengali language and has made her Bengali debut in Raja Sen's "Laboratory", based on a story by Rabindranath Tagore.

Contrary to this, “Monica Bedi who will be seen in "Chirodiner Sathi" is new to the language.  But so were others like Shakti Kapoor and Asrani who have earlier done their bit in jatras,” says Ramen Palit, one of the producers. "Jatra lovers want to see fresh faces and prefer Bollywood artistes. When we heard that Monica was interested in doing jatra, we approached her and she readily accepted," added Palit.

Bengali jatra, which still continues to be a rich source of entertainment, particularly among the rural masses, is all geared up for the festive season. Jatra is West Bengal's traditional folk theatre form and is very popular in rural areas. In some ways, it has the flavour of Bollywood many times over. It combines acting, songs, music and dance and is performed by troupes that travel from one place to another. Stylised delivery, exaggerated gestures and high decibel oratory are some salient features of the jatra.

Singham roars at the box-office…

One more start to finish action flick on the lines of masala entertainers like Wanted and Dabangg. But this one is a bit different as it’s directed by the comedy king Rohit Shetty who actually started off with a masala action movie “Zameen”. However, this is no adaption of Dabangg. The only similarity between the two films is Police – Villain concept that has been done to death in so many films and is a remake of the Tamil hit Singham starring Suriya.

A full-on masala flick that will work for Indian audience big time, the story starts at Shivgad, a small village on the border of Maharashtra and Goa. The story is of an honest, diligent cop Bajirao Singham, who has his own ethics and principals. His fight against injustice and prejudice in the society lands up standing against the powerful criminal politician Jaykant Shikre, challenging his morals. Story moves ahead with Jaykant trying all possible means to make Singham's life a nightmare. Singham's girlfriend Kavya and his experience with late Rakesh Kadam's family make him realize the importance to bring a change in the system. He plans on to eradicate the root cause of all the problems, Jaykant Shikre. He fights against the villain without breaking any of the law and by by being a powerful part of it.

Though a remake, Singham can be said as Rohit Shetty's best work till date. The conflict between the protagonist (Ajay) and antagonist (Prakash Raj) is not only interestingly written but strikes the correct cord with the audience by building up tensions at each stage. It will not only keep you tied up to the film but keeps the viewers enthralled with its high quality dramatic scenes, the raw action and the viewpoint of the common man on the rampant corruption, fraudulent politicians and spineless goons that adds up to the real feel of the film. A special mention about the mind blowing desi action moves in Singham holds the power to spine-chill the audience. And the finale is simply grand. In short, Singham entertains completely.

Ajay Devgn imparts a thunderstruck performance, and alone carries the film to the winning post coupled with not Kajal Aggarwal (his heroine) but Prakash Raj as the criminal politician who is marvelous. Actors like Sonali Kukarni, Govind Namdev, Murli Sharma and Sudhanshu Pandey leave a mark in their performances. However, the music score could have been better. It reminds me of Zameen that was so powerful, yet the songs were not upto the mark. Same here in Singham as the renowned music director duo Ajay-Atul of Marathi film Natrang fame fails to strike. But the title track sung by Sukhwinder works big time. Singham that means 'lion' is sure to roar at the box-office. It has come with a Blockbuster fate!

In short, Singham is a full-on masala flick that will work for Indian audience big time. The energy, drama, stunts will leave you ecstatic in you seat. All the complements for Singham goes to three pillars of the film, Ajay Devgn, Prakash Raj and director Rohit Shetty. This one is sure to roar at the box-office. It has come with a Blockbuster fate!

HUM LOG to come back as HUM on DD

Remember "Hum Log" India's very first soap opera that revolutionized the genre of TV soaps in India with Ashok Kumar doing a “Chan Pakaiya, Chan Pakaiya” at the end of each episode? Yes, the legendary Hum Log which made its debut on Doordarshan Darshan (DD) in July 1984 is all set to make a comeback this time in a new avatar called HUM from this independence day after a cool 25 years.

It seems that DD that has lost all its viewership to satellite channels is all set to woo the janta at a time when majority of its audiences have shifted onto gloss and glitz of the satellite channels with its 25 years purana show. Yeah, DD is set to do a remake of their once very popular serial “Hum Log” which revolved around the struggles and aspirations of an Indian middle class Haryanvi family of Basesar Ram. This was also the show that gave you Vindo Nagpal, Rajesh Puri, Seema Bhargava, Abhinav Chaturvedi Aka 'Nanhe' and a host of stars that included Divya Seth, Sushma Seth, Kamia Malhotra and others.

The wheels to bring back Hum Log were put into motion a little over year back, when a question was put up in Parliament to the Information & Broadcasting Minister as to why Doordarshan could not recreate the magic of Hum Log in an attempt to bring back their loyal audiences. All decided, its producer Shobha Doctor was summoned to the Director General's office in Mandi House and a year after that meeting, she came up with the story of HUM.

However, this time around, Shobha is not producing this new show, but will only mentor it. Pulse Media, which has made award-winning documentaries, was handpicked by her to produce her new baby. However, with a twist to the original masterpiece that showed an Indian middle class Haryanvi family, this new show focuses on the trial and tribulations of five women in a village in North Bihar. It is a story about five village women and how, due to socio-economic and political circumstances, they end up meeting at one point. How they bring about a total change in the village is what the show is all about. It deals with women's rights.

The new show that stars Suhasini Muley, Himani Shivpuri, Anjan Shrivastav, Harsh Chaya, Sadiya Siddiqui, Mona Wasu and Vineet Kumar, was almost entirely shot in outdoor locations in Bihar in a village near Sitamarhi. And like the original in which Ashok Kumar played the Sutradar, Sushma Seth will be the new sutradhar in Hum and will discuss the ongoing situation at the end of each episode. This biweekly show will be aired Friday-Saturday on Doordarshan from August 15 onwards.

However, the serial became an instant hit among both rural and urban viewers those days as they dint have to compete with the gloss, glitz and star material of the satellite channels in those times. Whether DD will be able to bring back the same high rated viewership in these times is another story altogether.

Try and fulfill your wishes and dreams asap as who knows : Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (Life won't come twice) hit the theaters from today. This movie comes in at a time when Mumbai has just been rocked by blasts leaving many injured and many lives lost. As the title suggests, You wont get a new life again or Life won't come twice, it is also an ode to fulfill your dreams or wishes for which somehow we don't remove time and keep on postponing on and off for a better time. Sometimes, it just makes sense to fulfill them as you just don't know what fate has in store for you in the next few minutes, days or years.

ZNMD
is a male bonding road story about three friends and exactly the quotient of today’s genX guys. An upcoming Hindi film directed by Zoya Akhtar and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment, ZNMD stars Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol and Farhan Akhtar in pivotal roles. The story is about Kabir (Abhay Deol) who has just met Natasha (Kalki Koechlin). 6 months later they are engaged and he wants to go on an extended bachelor party to Spain. He plans a 3 week road trip with Imraan (Farhan Ahktar) and Arjun (Hrithik Roshan) - his 2 best friends since school. The only problem is Arjun is very much tied up with his professional work. After much emotional blackmailing and cajoling, the boys set off on a journey they were meant to take 4 years ago. Kabir, Imraan and Arjun meet up in Barcelona and set off on an adventure.

This is one fantasy holiday they had planned to take after college but never happened. On this road trip, each one gets to do the ultimate sport of his choice and the other 2 just have to do it with him.The female roles are played by Kalki Koechlin and Katrina Kaif where she is paired with Hrithik Roshan. Ariadna Cabrol also features in a role in the movie along with Suhel Sheth and Naseeruddin Shah in brief appearances.

Though on the outset it may seem to be inspired by "The Hangover", however, in ZNMD their girlfriends do pitch in and may not be as Zany as "The Hangover" trip was. You will get to watch Katrina Kaif ride a Royal Enfield cruiser and attempt to teach the art of deep-sea diving, Hrithik lying on the beach wearing trousers and a shirt banging away on his laptop, and sundry such enticing scenes from the film. In fact, the La Tomatina festival of Spain was re-created for the shoot of the song Ek Junoon. It was shot in Bunyol, Valencia, Spain. Almost 16 tons on tomatoes were used for the shoot and they were flown in from Portugal. The introduction scenes of Katrina was shot on a nude beach, where they had to specifically request people to stay out of the frame as the film would face objection from censor board in India.

While initially it was touted as Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor to play two buddies given their friendship, but Hrithik Roshan and Abhay Deol agreed to play the lead roles after just one script narration. Zoya Akhtar cast her own brother Farhan Akhtar in one of the three lead roles and Katrina Kaif opposite Hrithik Roshan, as she needed a half Indian and half Caucasian girl to play the role of Laila. The music is composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy and is already high on the charts.

Tweets after the Mumbai blasts: All filled with hatred condemning the act...

Mumbai serial blasts: Who said what and what we at F&TV want to convey to them and our readers alike...

Arjun Rampal: Mumbai attacked once again by cowards? Can't understand, if New York and London can make sure it doesn't happen again then why can't we?
F&TV: Arjun, what US and UK lack is our so deeply committed politicians who are just caught napping each time.

Anupam Kher: I don't ask you to hang Ajmal Kasab. I just request Govt of India to protect us in same way as you have protected him. O:)
F&TV: Right Sir, even we agree with you.

Javed Akhtar: The death toll has reached 21. What kind of animals commits such heinous acts?
F&TV: Its time Akhtar saab that you write sum hard hitting stuff on such acts - not only condemning terrorism but also our politicians doings.

Pritish Nandy:
Stay calm, says the State. Stay calm, says the police. Stay calm, says the media. Where will all this calm get us? Time to stop making a fetish out of Mumbai's resilience. Lets show some anger too.
F&TV: Yep Mr. Nandy. It’s high time we need to get onto the streets and demand our rights instead of doing candle marches for lesser mortals for justice.

Bipasha Basu: In d garb of resilience v keep forgetting incidents like this again n again! It’s sad as no one is ever punished! Loss of life has become a joke! We keep condemning acts of terrorism and that's where the story ends every time and repeats again! It’s a shame!
F&TV: We are never gonna learn Bipasha. “Call it the Mumbaikar spirit,” say our politicians and we meekly feel glorified.

Shreya Ghoshal: So much is being said. But how much is done?
F&TV: Time to ask those in power…

Lara Dutta Bhupathi:
Sad to see this city goes through this again and again!! Also sad to see that people have resigned themselves to dealing with this!
F&TV: It’s a shame that it makes no difference and we carry on our lives in the next 24 hours with equal ease.

Atul Kasbekar (Celebrity Photographer): Let's stop turning the other cheek each time someone slaps us. Whack someone back! Hard! Our restraint is not our weakness! Enough is Enough!! And can we pl be spared d 'spirit n resilience of Mumbai' crap this time around?
F&TV: Right said Mr. Kasbekar. Need to shred off this Gandhian philosophy of giving the other cheek each time.. Not done..

Rahul Bose: Slowly TV channels ramp up the hysteria. Journos on the ground are encouraged to air angry voices. Will we never learn?
F&TV: TRP matters… How much does a life cost? Only 2 Lakhs? And we shower 50 times more to our cricketers who either way make crores of rupees of money through brandings...

Uday Chopra:
Just heard the news... Are we going to just get used to this!!! I pray for Mumbai..
F&TV: We are already used to it..

MTV India: 1993, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2008 & 2011: The frequency of Mumbai’s terror attacks is directly proportional to the government’s incompetence.
F&TV: Good statistics.

Rajeev Masand
(Film Critic): So hard to sit here and talk comedy with Aziz Ansari in a far-away part of the world, when the mind and heart is in Mumbai, deeply saddened.
F&TV: We can understand your predicament, Rajeev.

Madhur Bhandarkar: Resilience of Mumbai again put to test b'coz of d blasts. Heart aches for the victims. Condemn such cowardly acts of terror.
F&TV: Agree..

Sreesanth
(Cricketer): Very sorry to hear about further terror attacks in Mumbai. My thoughts are with you!!! Let’s all pray..
F&TV: Pray for what? That god gives us the courage to withstand another attack and we go on with our lives waiting for the next?

And as the entire world keep condemning such ghastly and dastardly acts, our dearest Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackereay engage in war of words over Indo-Pak Test matches, tweeted TOI at the same time.

When will we learn? SILENCE IS ACCEPTANCE!! NO MORE...

The team led by A.A. Khan & Associates and Mumbai Police also seized 2000 blank DVDs, 14 DVD Writers, 1 Color Printer and 1 Desktop.

On 06 July 2011, almost 7500 DVDs, of recently released movies like Delhi Belly, Chillar Party, Shaitan, Always Kabhi Kabhi and Double Dhaamal, were seized from a raid conducted in Aurangabad. One accused was taken in custody there.

On 04 July 2011, the team raided roadside stalls at Ambernath, where they seized 8450 pirate discs worth Rs. 1.5 lakhs. AACT’s team has also been making special efforts to curb movie piracy in major centers of Mumbai, and growing centers like Aurangabad and Baroda. In other series of raids in Rajasthan AACT seized 6352 pirated DVDs and also arrested one accused.

AACT spokesperson said, “The month of June saw some big movie release. This gave the local pirates an opportunity to indulge in the crime in a bigger way. We are glad that  our team has been able to keep the pressure on movie pirates by conducting all these raids and thereby controlling piracy on the streets.”

Last month AACT had conducted raids in Baroda, where 24, 500 pirated DVDs were seized. The total worth of these pirated DVDs was 12.5 lakhs.

The Alliance Against Copyright Theft (AACT) is an initiative to address piracy in India – launched jointly between the Hindi and Hollywood studios.  This Bollywood-Hollywood coalition includes UTV Motion Pictures, Moser Baer Entertainment, Reliance Big Entertainment, Eros International, and the Motion Picture Association (representing the six major Hollywood studios).

AACT will target all forms of piracy, both physical and online, affecting India.  While hard goods (pirate DVD) enforcement will be a cornerstone to the coalition, AACT will also take steps to curb the growing Internet and camcord piracy problem in India.  Moreover, AACT will launch public relations and educational outreach campaigns to raise awareness among consumers and government officials regarding the dangers of piracy. While the members of AACT are committed to stopping piracy, our efforts will be limited if the public is also not committed to stopping piracy.  It is our sincere hope that this initiative will convince the public that piracy is not a victimless crime, but rather a crime that funds organized criminal syndicates and terrorism, and similarly, causes irreparable economic harm.  For more details, log on to www.aact.in

Pretty Woman Julia Roberts is all smiles as she appears on The Late Show with David Letterman. Walking on the stage and mesmerizing the audience, Roberts walked in a yellow and black dress. Letterman couldn’t help asking her if she was wearing the same fragrance. “Consistency”, was the reply David got from Roberts. Letterman peppers Roberts with annoying questions about her kids just when Julia asked David about his son. David pointed out in the audience and his son waved to Roberts. “He is probably wearing the glasses you wore the first time I was on the show”, teased Julia. Changing the topic, he also asks her about her experience of meeting the dynamic Hillary Clinton. Roberts said, when she interviewed Hillary, Roberts was completely hypnotized by her.

What’s a show without surprises? And for a charming actress like Julia, the surprise has to be equally charming. David surprises Roberts with an unexpected visit from her pal and movie co-star, Tom Hanks. The studio audience looks amazed and delighted to see Forrest Gump and Pretty Woman appear together in the flesh. The segment becomes one of the most memorable TV moments in recent times.
