Sundeep Malani's "Jo Jo Laali" to premiere on World Aids Day..

Sundeep Malani's short award winning film Jo Jo Laali, (originally made in Kannada) will have its First World Premiere on Internet via Awaaz TV broadcasting from California. Simultaneously it will also have a Satellite Release on December 1st, considered worldwide as World Aids Day.

Jo Jo Laali - a heart wrenching lullaby - shot in Mumbai over a period of a week is a beautiful Kannada film with English subtitles of a classical dancer single mother who discovers that her 4 year old son born out of a love affair has AIDS transmitted by her ( from mother to son). The agony of her heart wrenching loss is portrayed through music and dance and the film ends on a note of positivity with a strong message for society in this gripping emotional drama.

A musical and emotional film, Jo Jo has brought in heaps of laurels and awards for all including actress Kalpana Pandit for Best Actress at the South India Mega Film Contest, Master Shrey Tejani as the Best child actor for his cute performance at the Gujarat International Film Festival and director Sundeep Malani as Best Directord at the Super Kidz International Film Festival. The film has been praised for the beautiful rendering and the ease with which the story was told in an emotional way than being too loud and overdramatic. Sundeep’s wonderful screenplay and direction and has won accolades, appreciations and requests for screening at various film festivals and college events to educate the youth on this subject.

Jo Jo Laali has wonderful performances by Kalpana Pandit, Akash Hora and Shrey Tejani playing central roles. With music by Ameya Naik and tandav score by Ricky Kej, Kalpana who is a talented dancer has tried to match her footsteps with her Director’s dream muse – Sridevi and has come close to her performance. Produced by House of Pandit, the film is been dubbed in Hindi for telecast on Awaaz TV on December. 1st. Unfortunately, such films do not see the light of the day in our very own country where the dangers of the deadly disease AIDS loom large. Its high time our government made it mandatory for satellite channels to release a slot for such films to be aired.

Besides Jo Jo Laali, Sundeep's forthcoming attraction include Jaanleva 555 which is ready for release.

If Barbie Doll Katrina goes for abandoned kids, Priyanka Chopra is a Rockstar!

Imagine the Indian Barbie Doll, Katrina Kaif, being a guardian angel to a group of abandoned kids! Well, that’s what the pretty actress is doing-- in spite of her busy schedule shooting, rehearsing for an item number for a forthcoming film, dancing at awards functions or endorsing products… pouring all her love, affection and attention to bring cheer in to the lives of these few  unfortunate children.

What makes BIG CBS Love’s India’s Glam Diva contender & our very own Barbie doll Katrina take on this huge responsibility?  Perhaps it’s in her genes…Her mother runs an NGO where Katrina is said to be very active. Or may be her close friend Salman Khan ,who in his own way has touched many a hearts with his good work, of helping those in need…could he be Katrina’s inspiration? Whatever may be the inspiration, here’s another side to the glamorous actress!

If you thought Sheila Ki Jawani is what   goes with Katrina, then you are completely mistaken. There’s a very different side to the young and pretty Katrina which is kept under wraps, a well kept secret, that will be revealed on India’s Glam Diva, a platform that will bring the most ravishing, talented and deserving divas to the fore. Pretty Karina will compete with the most gorgeous women from the entertainment industry for the title.

On the other hand, Priyanka Chopra or PC as she is fondly called, is the DARLING of the masses and the industry wallas. Beautiful, talented, multi-faceted Priyanka Chopra has often worn many a hats. From carrying the Miss World crown & responsibilities on her young teenage shoulders to rubbing shoulders with the top actors of Bollywood… Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan, John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, to Badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan who is completely in awe of her.

Charming India’s Glam Diva contender, Priyanka has created a niche for herself among her fans, well wishers and the industry where she has found name, fame, and fortune. Priyanka Chopra, who became a global celebrity at very young age, thanks to winning the beauty pageant she took to films like a duck to water! She laughed her way to award functions with √©lan, she teamed up opposite Bollywood’s biggest and brightest stars, made friends with all… and is known to be one of the most well spoken actresses in the industry today.

Recently, at a function while she was addressing the crowd she had people listening to her in silence, completely mesmerized by her oratory skills and mind you if her speech can hold people’s attention, then you must hear her sing… she’ll simply have your heart beat racing!

That’s PC or the beautiful Priyanka Chopra for you for the moment. There’s yet another side to this beautiful actress that’s not known to her fans which will be revealed in India’s Glam Diva, coming up on BIG CBS LOVE.

Days are Bright and Sunny now with Leone inside!

Day 49 & 50: On the day of nominations, we see Vida bid adieu to the Bigg Boss house. After the evictions we see Sky, Juhi, Pooja Bedi and Sidharth having a casual chat when Amar enters and Sky tells Amar that the way Vida had been behaving throughout the show with Amar it depicted Amar in a negative light and showed that he is characterless. Both the men enter into an argument when Mahek comes and pulls Amar away and asks him not to stoop down to Sky’s level and have an unnecessary argument with Sky. Juhi comments on this act of Mahek saying she is the one who is seen fighting and pouncing in the house half the times and she acting like a peace-maker now looks just so contradictory.

In the evening we see beautiful Sunny entering the Bigg Boss house in a grand manner. She is seen dancing on a Bollywood number and is wearing a fine traditional Indian outfit. The housemates are extremely excited as they think she is their ‘New Vida’ and think her to be the perfect replacement for Vida. Sky does not miss his chance of luring Sunny to be a part of his room, when the entire house was still just trying to know her well. The housemates are seen quite happy with their new fellow contestant and are seen bonding with her really well. As the next day begins, Amar is seen explaining to Sunny her duty of keeping the house clean being a part of Bigg Boss.

Early in the morning as the day begins, Sky and Shonali have a huge argument.  Sky thinks that Shonali is upset with him as he had nominated her the previous week for evictions where as Shonali says that she has forgotten it all long back. Sky is generally irritated with Shonali and has been behaving upset ever since the ‘Rajneeti’ task ended. Sky does not leave a chance to mock at her and calls her dumb and keeps repeating that she has an image of changing her rooms and forgetting all the wrong that she has done in the past. Sunny tries interfering and stopping the two, but nothing works. Sky goes on to tell Shonali that she is doing nothing but aping Mahek. Shonali could not listen to all that Sky was saying about her and broke down. Amar, Mahek and Sidharth manage to console her and calm her down.

As the day progresses, we see Sunny getting used to the Bigg Boss house and its contestants. Sunny has spent most of her time talking and understanding things from Sidharth and hence feels comfortable with him. Sidharth is seen teaching her Hindi and also shares with her the cultural values of India and talks to her about the heritage of India. The nominations then take place and we then see Juhi, Pooja Bedi, Sky and Sidharth talking to Sunny and explaining the eviction nominations procedure to her. The four of them also tell her that they really like her and like her company too.

As the day ends, we see Sidharth chatting with Pooja Misrra and Sunny and telling them how he does not like anything going wrong around him. While Sidharth is seen saying this outside, Sky bitches to Pooja Bedi and Juhi telling them that Sidharth has changed all of a sudden. When Juhi tells him that it’s all because of the game, Sky says that it is not because of the game, but it is generally how Sidharth. He also tells them how Sidharth had made a plan against Juhi and Pooja Bedi  and Sky was the one who stopped him and told him he does not want to listen to any of it.

The CEAT Cricket Rating stands out by virtue of its simplicity. It comprises an objective points system that awards points to cricketers for their batting, bowling and fielding performances in the ODI, T20 and Test format. The CEAT Cricket Year commences on 1st May and ends on 30th April of the following calendar year. The cricketer’s that accumulate the highest number of points in their respective categories at the end of this twelve-month period are declared as winners. The adjudicators: The CCR are overseen by cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar, who is the adjudicator for the ratings. The evening winded off on a colourful note by an exclusive performance by Kangana Ranaut.

As Vida waves a Goodbye to the Bigg Boss house, Pornstar Sunny dances her way inside..

‘She came, she saw, she conquered’ is one phrase that suits Vida Samadzai the best. Her flight of miles to enter the Bigg Boss house did not seem like a waste. Though she waves a goodbye to the Bigg Boss house this Saturday, she did not fail to charm her fellow contestants and viewers alike.  She never missed a chance to talk or bond with her fellow contestants on the show and made it a point to win their trusts and stay loyal to them. Be it her friendship with Amar Upadhyay or be it her love-hate relationship with Pooja Misrra, she always did as promised and would never utter wrong against anyone on the show. The contestants not only enjoyed her presence, but loved the way she would enthusiastically cook up delicious meals for everyone in the house. This is something that everyone inside the Bigg Boss house is really going to miss.

Vida's love for India was seen every time she tried to manage talking in her broken Hindi. She never missed a chance to learn more about the Indian culture and Hindi from her fellow contestants and always said how much she loved being a part of the show. What she takes along with her from the Bigg Boss house is not only a new list of friends but is also taking along a lot of memories from India that she would cherish forever. We would definitely miss this ever-smiling and ever-happy Hollywood dame and wish that she makes a comeback on the silver screen through a new show soon.

As Vida's entry had left the contestants shocked and sad enough as they had lost a dear and charming Hollywood friend even before they could get to know more about her, this was when Sunny planned to enter the Bigg Boss house and in a grand way. She danced on the famous 'Chaliya Chaliya' track and made sure that her entry was entertaining enough to make the sad faces smile bright. Carried by 8 men on their shoulders, Sunny entered the Bigg Boss house in a traditional Indian attire sitting daintily inside a doli. Soon as she entered the Bigg Boss house, she gelled well with everyone inside the house. Contestants were so impressed that they immediately started inviting her to stay with them in their rooms. Sunny's entry in the Bigg Boss house bought back smile on everyone's faces. We hope Sunny has a bright and sunny stay inside the Bigg Boss house.

Porn star Sunny Leone to enter Bigg Boss 5

After generating a lot of heat  at Bigg Boss 5 by constant fights and all, the reality TV show is all set to add fuel to fire by bringing in a Porn Star whose reputation to bare all preceedes her. The same show which got all the men's jaws dropping when Pamela Anderson entered the house will now reportedly open its doors to adult film star, Sunny Leone. According to sources, the actress will be welcomed into the Bigg Boss 5 house immediately as she is landing in Mumbai tonite.

Though there were rumours that Mike Tyson would be the international celebrity to be invited to the Indian version of Bigg Boss season 5, the channel authorities have however finalised the Indian-Canadian adult film actress, Sunny Leone, whose real name is Karen Malhotra to upp the heat quotient. Born to a Punjabi family in Ontario, Leone has appeared in various reality shows in the US, and was named among the world's top 12 porn stars by fashion magazine Maxim in 2010.

The source explained, "There are two single men - Akshdeep Saigal and Siddarth and one married man - Amar Upadhyay, who are currently in the house. Sunny's entry into the house will definitely help to generate some drama and excitement for viewers."

The source informed us that Sunny was named Penthouse Pet of the Year in 2003 and was under a contract for Vivid Entertainment. She was also named one of the top 12 X-rated actresses in 2010. "She is one of the most talked about adult film actresses, who began her career with mainly homosexual roles before she started doing roles opposite men in 2008. Incidentally, there were also rumours that Mohit Suri had offered her a role in his film Kalyug. Apart from many adult films, Sunny has done quite a few mainstream films as well. Sunny will be arriving into the country tonight," added the source.

No doubt the entry of Sunny is sure to set the TRPs soaring, but how it will be taken by the Indian audience and our Moral Police (read our political parties) remains to be seen. Perhaps, this is what the channel is seeking as TRPs badhane ke liye and publicity ke liye ye channel wale kuch bhi karenge...

Oprah revisits her first job after 26 years only on BIG CBS LOVE

The popular Oprah Winfrey Show on BIG CBS LOVE joins Oprah as she goes back to her first job, after 26 years, anchoring the evening news! It is believed that before they were famous, many celebrities - including Shania Twain, Madonna and Jay Leno—worked behind the counter at fast food joints. In this episode we also have Kirstie Alley, Suze Orman and Martina McBride go back to their first jobs…The exciting episode tells us how their first jobs help them become celebrities they are today.

While Oprah was in Dallas filming a show at the annual state fair, she did something she hasn't done in 26 years: a live newscast! Oprah shared the anchor desk with Gloria Campos, a TV news legend in Dallas. "I'm a little nervous because she is such a good talker," Gloria says. "Time might get away from us."

As the clock ticked closer to 5 p.m., Oprah says she started to get nervous. "My anxiety dream is always I'm sitting at a news desk with Walter Cronkite and all my papers are confused," she says. But, as soon as the teleprompter started to roll, it all came back to her!

Oprah says she'll never forget her first job-as a teenager working at the corner grocery store next to her father's barber shop...and she hated it every minute of it."I wasn't allowed to talk to the customers, and can you imagine for me?" she says. "That was very, very, very hard."Then, at 16, she landed a job that paid her to talk. A Nashville radio station, hired Oprah to read the news on the air, which she says she loved. This gig helped Oprah get her big break. In 1973, Oprah was a 19-year-old sophomore in college when she got a call that changed her life. "I remember leaving class to go take a phone call from Channel 5's Chris Clark," she says.

Chris, Oprah’s first boss, says he remembers Oprah as a well-spoken, poised young woman. "What you see in Oprah today is what I saw so many years ago," he says. "Oprah, you had the magic to communicate on television, and that is natural born. You just can't learn that."

Chris remembers when he assigned Oprah stories that involved people who were hurt; he says she'd be too distraught to write the copy. "She spent all of her time on the telephone trying to find help for these people instead of writing the darned story to meet the deadline," he says. "It probably was very good she never got the message. Look at her today. I mean, come on. She has empathy for people. She wouldn't be Oprah without that."

The others who join Oprah and revisit their first jobs are, Kirstie Alley, who long before she was a famous movie and television actress, as a 16-year-old entered into the workforce as a housekeeper. A childhood friend's mother, Anne Kathol, hired Kirstie to clean their house and taught her lessons she still carries with her today. To this day, Kirstie says she can still make a sink sparkle…then Kirstie graduated to decorating them. Kirstie got her first job at Dean's Designs, a Wichita interior design firm.

Suze Orman also put on a dress for the first time in decades to see if she still has what it takes to make it as a diner waitress. While working at Buttercup, Suze says she learned that who you are has nothing to do with what you do.

"Who you are how you treat people, how you serve people, how you cater to them," she says. "I learned if you could just be kind to people, if you could just be pleasant to people, that the greatest tip in life is when they smile back at you."

For the first time in more than 20 years, country star Martina McBride made a stop in Hutchinson, Kansas, to revisit the Dairy Queen where she once worked. Rajneeti in Bigg Boss 5 House....

Day 45: The day starts with the routine wake up song and all the housemates are up and awake. Pooja Misrra is picked on by Sky and Siddharth especially for consuming too many eggs on a regular basis. Sky being the house captain tells Pooja Misrra that if she doesn’t stop this bad habit then he would send her to jail.

An angry Pooja Misrra retaliates by announcing to the rest of the housemates that she will be on ‘maun vrath’ the entire day in order to stop being everyone’s target. Vida approaches Amar and tells him that she wants to clarify a few things regarding her nomination. While the both get into an intense conversation, the bad boys aka Siddharth and Sky interfere and start instigating Amar against Vida. The duo has some success as Vida gets a little emotional. Post their departure Amar manages to convince Vida a little bit.

After sometime, Sky and Shonali are seen chilling in the captain’s room and discussing the happenings of the house. While both are at it, Pooja Misra storms into the captain’s room and barges into the restroom without his permission. An angry Sky comes out and tells the rest of the housemates that going into the captain’s restroom without prior permission is against the Bigg Boss house rules. So he walks back into his room, enters the restroom and forcefully gets her out and tells her that her behavior is just not accepted. An angry Pooja Misrra walks out and complains to Amar that her elbow was hurt when Sky forcefully opened the door on her.

Amar intervenes and tells her that she needs to take the captain’s permission for using his loo. Pooja creates a big scene as usual and shouts out saying that she will make everyone suffer for this brutal behavior against her. An agitated Sky being the captain sends her to jail as a punishment for her obnoxious behavior. In a bit, Bigg Boss calls the phone assigned in the house for the ‘Rajneeti’ task. Coincidently Sky receives the phone call and figures that he needs to send one of his party members to the other party.

In sometime, Pooja Misrra is released from the jail. The daily task is introduced in the house and all the housemates get excited to perform the task. Post the task, Siddharth and Mahek get into a very ugly fight. Mahek instigates Siddharth by saying a few nasty things about his family and that gets Siddharth extremely angry. The housemates intervene and calm things down. The day comes to an end as Sky and Pooja Bedi hug and make up with Pooja Misrra. The diplomatic duo seems to keep everyone in their control.

The hall was electric as Indian pop-star Daler Mehendi belted out songs from I AM SINGH,Puneet Issar’s forthcoming project which saw its music launch on the 3rd November,2011. Best remembered for his portrayal of Duryodhan in BR Chopra's TV epic, Mahabharat, and his directorial debut, Salman Khan starrer Garv , Puneet Issar returns to the big screen after a gap of 7 years with I  AM SINGH produced by Sardar Peshaura Singh Thind- a salute to the undying spirit of Sikhs all over the world.

Keeping with the spirit of the film, the album is an interesting mix of songs with various composers and singers on board including Daler Mehendi, Sukhwinder Singh, Mika Singh, Monty Sharma, Sudhakar Dutt Sharma, Arvinder Singh & Sumitra Iyer.

Says producer Mr. Thind: "The film has some of the most talented musicians on board. In a way the music of the film is its USP. Its uplifting and carries the spirit of I AM SINGH forward”

Throwing light on discrimination and racism that Indians have faced abroad ,post what could only be described as one of the most appalling events the world has ever witnessed ,the 9/ 11 terror strikes in New York that occurred over a decade ago – I AM SINGH focuses on how Americans mistook Sikhs to be part of Islamic terrorist groups and the trauma that follows.

I AM SINGH comes to a theatre near you 2nd December, 2011.

International Children's Film Fest begins today in Hyderabad

The 17th International Children's Film Festival opened in Hyderabad today on the occasion of Childrens Day and Chacha Nehru’s Birthday. Noted film makers, actors and directors, along with movie buffs, are expected to converge for the 17th ICFF, a biennial event that will go on till November 20.

B Venkatesam, Chief Coordinator of the event, said the number of children film entries, drawn from about 50 countries has gone up to a record number of 700, as compared to 300 in 2009. The Screening Committee has selected around 150 films for the fest, as compared to 75 in 2009. In the feature film category, a total of 40 countries are taking part with 80 feature films and 70 short films. The committee has effected certain changes in the categorisation this year. There would be 15 awards in four competitive categories. The number of entries selected under these categories are: International (15 films), India (10 films), Shorts (24 films) and Little Directors (11 films), officials said.

Among the films that will be screened in the Indian Competition section are Stanley Ka Dabba, I am Kalam, Chillar Party, Dekh Indian Circus (by Mangesh Hadawale which won the Audience Award at Busan, Korea recently) and Vihir. The Lotus Pond, made by filmmakers from Hyderabad, will have its world premiere. The Lost Thing, the 2011 Oscar Award Winner will also be screened at the festival.

But the film that will open the festival on November 14 is Gattu, directed by Rajan Khosa and is produced by the Children's Film Society of India. Speaking of Gattu, an official spokesperson spoke about the film : In a town full of kites where children are obsessed with flying the paper and stick creations, there is a kite called Kali that rules the skies. No one knows who flies Kali. No one can defeat Kali. However, an illiterate street urchin takes up the challenge of besting Kali. He has neither money nor education on his side, but he has a goal firmly in sight.

Significantly, age-wise programming has been introduced for the first time. The age groups are 6 to 9, 10 to 12 and 13 to 16, ensuring that kids watch only what will be appropriate for, and enjoyed by, their age group. The lyrics for the signature tune of the festival have been written by Gulzar and the music is composed by Vishal Bharadwaj.

As China sends a good number of entries for the ICFF, a separate category 'In Focus China' has been introduced this time. Under this section, six Chinese children’s films will be screened. Another section, 'Children's World', will present highly acclaimed films, which have won series of awards in festivals worldwide in the last decade. According to TRK Rao, special officer, 17th ICFF, the main festival centre would be at Shilparamam, a permanent crafts village, set up here amid serene surroundings.

The 17th ICFF will have representation from Africa and South America for the first time. Three new competitive sections -- Competition Shorts, Competition India and Competition Little Directors – have been introduced. 'Stanley Ka Dabba', 'I am Kalam', 'Chillar Party', 'Dekh Indian Circus' (a film by Mangesh Hadawale, which won the audience award at Busan, Korea last week) and Vihir (Umesh Kulkarni's film that went to Berlin as well) are some of the Indian entries.
