Virat crumbles but Anushka hits the box office jackpot

And Anushka Sharma's gamble has paid off and how! The Navdeep Singh-directed NH10 has been cruising at the box office emerging as a big hit has gone on to collect Rs 20.6 crore in its first week and a further Rs 5.23 crore in its second weekend taking its total 10-day collection to a fantastic Rs 26 crore. That makes the low budget film, produced under Anushka's Clean Slate Films banner, a hit and beyond! And when you add the 1 million USD overseas collections to it, the picture gets rosier.

Conventional wisdom might make it sound dark and violent, but it also connects emotionally and so well made that everyone could get into Meera's shoes and spends that nightmare of a night out there. Anurag Pandey is ready to flaunt his acting prowess on the big screen...

This week's model cum actor is "Anurag Pandey" from Delhi who is slowly becoming a name to reckon with on the Theatre circuit. A Model on the Block, Anurag hails from Moradabad and is keenly interested in dramatics, acting, modelling as well as walking on the ramp. A fresh bundle of talent to watch out for, Anurag has kickstarted his career as second lead in a short film “Girgitt” that is produced under the banner of Qrius Films. Girgitt will soon find a premier screening in one of the prestigious film festivals being held across the country. In this film Anurag is playing second fiddle to a policeman who is corrupt to the core and doesn’t mind using his power to make some extra money. He is also keenly looking to walk the ramp professionally for designers.

Of late, good films are thinly delineating the lines between cult and mainstream. Every day, we get to see a movie where the actors are pushing forwards more and more, and are enjoying more success in cinema than ever before. Ask him what roles he is keen to do and pops the answer: “Anything that is meaty and gives me a chance to experiment with myself. The nuances you can bring in such a project is ultimate. I would like to make any character as real as any living character and in ways more nuanced, more interesting." 

Speaking about his ambitions, he says, “I don’t mind playing any character as I feel with my looks I can experiment variety, even negative, and it would be exciting just to be intrinsically evil that the audience would love to hate. Also I think doing such a role would not only be pretty challenging but are sure to raise your profile as well. Just the way, Rajkumar Rao has raised his own with projects like Shahid or Citylights!!”

As a role model, he look to actors of substance like Rajkumar Rao and even doesn’t mind shedding off his garbs if the role demands it.  Having said this, he also adores Salman bhai for his popularity and Akshay Kumar for the varied roles he has done. "If I am able to do even one percent of what they have achieved, I will consider myself very lucky. I am just looking for that one chance to experiment with variety,” signs off Anurag.

Court Restrains Shruti Hassan from signing any new movie, criminal proceedings also initiated

Picture House Media Ltd, a leading media and entertainment house based out of Chennai and Hyderabad has initiated Civil and Criminal Proceedings against actress Shruti Hassan.

Shruti Hassan after entering into a contractual agreement to be the female lead in a bilingual starring Nagarjuna and Karthi directed by Vamsi Paidipalli has reneged on her contractual obligations. She has arbitrarily pulled out of the project citing dates clash as a flimsy excuse. The dates were mutually discussed with her and schedules were planned around her convenience. The said movie has commenced its shoot and first schedule was completed and unexpectedly Shruti conveyed through an email that she wanted to exit the project.

This unethical and unprofessional act of Shruti Hassan has resulted in Picture House Media Ltd incurring financial as well as reputation loss. Though the financial loss is running into several crores, it is the loss of time and reputation that is significant because the schedules of all other artists who have committed their dates will be disrupted.

With an intention of ensuring that such unprofessional attitude is not repeated and to protect the interests of its various stakeholders, Picture House Media Ltd has initiated both civil and criminal proceedings against Shruti Hassan and the Honourable Judge has taken cognisance of this civil offence and issued an injunction restraining her from signing any new movie until further orders. For the criminal offence, Police have been instructed to investigate the matter.

Second poster of ‘Dharam Sankat Mein’ launched

Dharam Sankat Mein, is a Hindi Bollywood drama film by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, the studio which produced the film Oh My God. The film directed by Fuwad Khan starring Naseeruddin Shah, Annu Kapoor and Paresh Rawal has launched its second poster today. Dharam Sankat Mein is an official Hindi adaptation of British satire 'The Infidel'. It revolves around a Hindu man Dharampal (By Paresh Rawal), who goes through an identity crisis when he discovers he was adopted as a child, and was born to a Muslim family.

The film stars 3 National Award winning actors, Naseeruddin Shah, Annu Kapoor and Paresh Rawal in a comic role. The music is composed by Meet Bros Anjjan, Sachin Gupta, Jatinder Shah while lyrics are by Kumaar. The movie is all set to release on 10th April.

Mrs. India - Priyanka Khurana Goyal is leaving no stone unturned to win Mrs. Earth Crown

Mrs. India 2015 Priyanka Khurana Goyal visited Ahmedabad to create her portfolio in the run up to win the next Mrs. Earth Contest. The pageant will be held in October2015 in Jamaica. Well known Fashion Photographer Vijay Kabra shot the portfolio at traditional locations of the city. The two days there were spent in different outdoor and indoor photo shoots. Furthermore Priyanka visited hospitals and participated in social activities and organized awareness for the “Save Girl Child” campaign, to inspire married Gujarati women. She also addressed the audience to inspire a sense of doing innovative work after marriage. About the Mrs. India crown, she says this is an unbelievable victory for me; my real inspiration is my two year old baby, who is always ready to do something new.”

Priyanka also mentions that before representing India at the global platform of Mrs. Earth, she would like to get a first-hand experience of the diverse cultures of India and visit places of historic and traditional value, in different states, starting with Gujarat, Rajasthan and Bihar.

Priyanka Khurana Goyal, an IIM-C alumna of the batch of 2006 won the Mrs. India 2015 pageant. Priyanka, Vice President, Nomura Securities, became the first Investment Banker to win the pageant. The pageant was organized by Handicap Children and Women’s Aid which promotes community service for Women Empowerment. "Beauty awakens the soul to act" and Homai Baria acts with style and elan

This week's Model is Mrs. Homai Baria – An Actor/Model from Chennai who found her calling when she landed up on the sets with a Parsi friend accompanying her kids for a shoot. Destined perhaps to get into this career, the mother for the shoot did not come as she fell ill and they took a test on her. And as they say - the rest is History. She was roped in and from then on it has become her passion. From being a successful professional baker to an Avon cosmetics leader, her heart she says lies in acting.

Homai Baria has gained popularity with her poignant portrayal in the Kalyan Jewelers advertisement with actor Prabhu as well as of Apollo hospital, Tazaa tea, CITI BANK, ICICI Bank, etc. to name a few. She has also done a few tamil movies and is open to picking up roles that suit her age and her profile. She can aptly play a grandmother or do roles of a professor or a doctor too. She has even walked the ramp for the Gold Jewelry Council of India as the grandmother of the bride. “It was an awesome experience even if I shivered in the first walk but later it was a piece of cake walk,” Baria says laughingly in her trademark jovial style.

Divyendu Sharma gets intimate with Prachi Mishra in Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend

The music of Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend continues to create the right buzz. After two party songs - ‘Birthday Bash’ & ‘Tipsy’, the makers of the film recently released a new number called ‘Tere Liye’. The soulful soft romantic song, beautifully written, composed and sung by Indeep Bakshi, is very relatable especially for all those who have been in love. It also features Divyendu Sharma of Pyaar Ka Punchnama fame with Prachi Mishra and they get quite intimate in it.

Produced by Manjeet Kaur & Tarnpreet Singh, Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend also stars Pradhuman Singh, Ira Dubey & others and is set to release on 2oth March, 2015. Speaking about shooting the intimate scenes with Prachi and whether he was at any point apprehensive about shooting them, Divyendu said, “I believe as actors we do every scene on its merit. We are professionals and can’t be apprehensive doing anything.”

Added Prachi, “We shot the song right at the end of the film’s schedule and by that time Divyendu and I had become good friends. So the so called ‘intimate scene’ wasn’t tough at all. I was pretty comfortable doing it.”

The director of the film, Japinder Kaur says, “Tere Liye the name itself is so nostalgic. It's a painful romantic and soulful melody. The shoot was a very surreal experience as well and we shot in Emirates palace, Abu Dhabi, which is an exquisite and beautiful location. Both Divyendu and Prachi also got the feel of the song from their heart and put it in action beautifully.”

Highway, Diya Aur Baati Hum, Udann and Beti project honoured at Elevate 2015

Imtiaz Ali's movie Highway, the Star Plus daily soap Diya Aur Baati Hum, Colors social message show Udann and Anu Ranjan's NGO Beti fighting for the cause of the girl child, were honoured with felicitations at Elevate 2015, the second annual conclave held at The Club, Mumbai, this week.

In partnership with The Club, the event was marked by panel discussions and felicitations of various network and studio teams, Bollywood film and television writers, producers and directors, whose projects have made a profound impact on audiences.

Coinciding with the International Women's Day, Garry Lyons of the University of Leeds, UK, along with activist-filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, presided over the conclave. Ms Vinta Nanda, CEO and managing director, ACEE The Third Eye gave the opening address.

Prominent speakers including Amit Khanna, Sudhir Mishra, Dr. Sanjiv Badhwar, Sanjay Tripathy, Dr. Nikhil Datar, Anu Ranjan, Suhail Tatari, Dr. Lata Shenava, Bhawana Somaaya and Gajra Kottary.

World Holi Fest by Shashi Sumeet Innovations

Drums filled with water, stalls laden with gulal (colour powder) and pichkaris (water guns), and crowded eating joints turned Zabeel Park, Dubai and Kalagram Grounds, Chandigarh into a massive color festival on Friday morning, with the young and old drenching themselves in the spirit of Holi.

World Holi Fest,a 2 city Holi event that happened in Dubai and Chandigarh was a first time initiation by Shashi Sumeet Innovations, brain child of Shashi Sumeet Productions.

A stellar event, it had few of India’s famous TV actors performing along with Dj’s and anchors who turned Holi into a first of its kind event.

Same went for Chandigarh where the response was overwhelming.

“We are expecting close to 3,000 people by evening. Most of them would come in the afternoon. A crew of 400 people has been working round the clock to ensure everything runs smooth,” said Pankaj Khana, the business head of ShashiSumeet Innovations, the organizer of the World Holi Fest.

“We also have tight security all across the venue. There is one security person for every 20 people, there are cameras all around, and a medical team is on standby,” he added, completely unaware of two little children standing behind him, grinning ear to ear, waiting with water guns.

On a buzzing Sunday evening at the National Sports Centre of India, the who’s who of Mumbai, gathered together for a Fashion show organised by celebrity designers Shaina NC and Manish Malhotra. A starry line-up of Mumbai’s socialites walked the ramp at the soiree planned in support of the Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA). Shining among them was Priyanka Khurana Goyal, Winner of the Mrs. India Queen of Substance 2015.
