Divya Jagdale and Gulshan Pandey judge "Hindi Short Play Competition" in Mumbai.

On the completion of their one and a half decade in theatre, Rang Rasia Theater Group celebrated it by organising a theater festival - "5th Hindi Short Play Competition" in Mumbai.

Held on 3rd and 4th march in Andheri, Mumbai; many Theater Groups" participated in this competition. The winning prize went to Shyam Bhimsaria for Best Direction for his play “One Coin Please”. Majorlty of the shows showcased reality of life, albeit with a dash of honesty, comedy and social messages interspersed in their plays. The audience enjoyed it a lot as the duration of the plays ranged from 15 mins to 40 mins. This was a different experience all together for the audiences that normally see only one show in a theatre. The plays based on Social issues plays got more appreciation than others.

The brain child of Saurabh Sharma who was also the Director of this festival said, "We wanted to give something new to the audiences. Also with people's focus more on the Glamour world in form of films and television, they have started forgetting "Theater". This short play competition was organized to let them enjoy the nuances of good acting and a good script as a medium. Also, we wanted to strongly put across to budding actors and also those who are serious with acting that theatre is one of the strongest mediums towards your success. You not only learn the basics of acting but you can hone your acting skills and also sharpen it. Even the best talents in Bollywood have done their basics in theatre. It’s like have a strong foundation on which you can build your tower of success.”

Judges and special guests to the event included well-known Bollywood actress and theater personality Miss Divya Jagdale (Gulab Gang fame) and Actor Gulshan Pandey (Crime Patrol Dastak fame). Other chief guests included famous Comedian Banwarilal Jhol, Actor Rajeev Saxena and Narendra Panjawani. The winners to the competition were given away prizes, momento’s and certificates by Divya Jagdale.

13th FICCI-FRAMES starts tomorrow at Mumbai's Renaissance Hotel.

FICCI Frames is one of the most noteworthy media and entertainment sector trade events in India will begin on March 12 to discuss ways to maximise economic and creative potential in 2013. The media and entertainment industry that encompasses films, broadcast (TV and radio), digital entertainment, animation, gaming, visual effects and many other aspects will be discussed at the three-day event.

Canadian Governor and wife visits sets of Tumhari Paakhi

With a desire to promote bilateral trade and to discuss the future of audiovisual co-production between Canada and India, Canadian Governor General, David Johnston along with his wife, Sharon Johnston visited the sets of Shashi Sumeet Productions’ show ‘Tumhari Paakhi’ on Saturday, March 1, 2014. Tumhari Paakhi was on the only television show set that they visited during the course of their stay in the country.

The couple were greeted by the producer, Mr. Sumeet Mittal, who also took them around the set and introduced them to the entire cast and crew of the show.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Sumeet Mittal, Founder & Director, ShashiSumeet productions said, “We were thrilled to have Mr. David Johnston and his wife at our sets. Guneet Monga ventures into Ad Film Production with Golden Gaddi Films

Noted film producer Guneet Monga, who is credited with having produced films such as The Lunchbox, Gangs Of Wasseypur, Peddlers, That Girl in Yellow boots and Shaitan amongst others has now ventured into ad film production. Golden Gaddi Films, will be responsible for producing Ad and corporate films, while Sikhya Entertainment will produce feature films.

SAMVIDHAAN - Making of the Constitution of India’ on RajyaSabha TV.

BecomeShakespeare.com’s Short Story Writing Workshop 2014 a grand success

BecomeShakespeare.com held a Short Story Writing Workshop on the 1st and 2nd of March, 2014.The workshop which was being conducted at Fort, Mumbai had been designed as an idea-fuelled event. It was a highly interactive and intellectually inspiring program aimed specially at people who wish to take their writing to the next level by improving their creative writing skills in fiction. Many aspects such as Plotting, Characterization, Dialogue, Point of View and a lot more was covered during the two-day workshop.

The first day of the workshop had two sessions; the first session began with reading of a short story by the very talented conductor of the workshop, by Mrs. Renu Balakrisnan. The second session was an exciting discussion on ‘The Elements of good Short Story Writing’. The heartening aspect of this session was the creative spirit that was seen in all the attendees which included group of creative writing students, aspiring writers, journalists. The first day turned out to be action-packed and thought-provoking. In short, BecomeShakespeare.com’s Literary Workshop provided the much-needed and sought-after chance to interact with a brilliant group of people and to learn about Short Story Writing.

On the second day, the focus was on getting the participants to begin writing different pieces based on the elements that were discussed on Day 1 and comparing and assessing the structures of the same - one of the most essential aspects of the workshop. This was followed by the final assignment given to the participants; to begin writing their short story to create a short story collection, which added to the dimensions covered by BecomeShakespeare.com as a workshop event. “I’ve never seen such a lovely and vibrant group, and I hope one day they all become successful authors”. Akshay Kumar shifts release date of "Fugly" to 13th June for friend Sajid Nadiadwala

16th May 2014 marked the clash of two films starring some of India's most anticipated newcomer debuts - Akshay Kumar and Ashvini Yardi's Grazing Goat Pictures' second Hindi production Fugly which has four film debuts including that of former Olympic boxer Vijender Singh and Anil Kapoor's nephew Mohit Marweh and Sajid Nadiadwala’s Nadiadwala Grandsons Heropanti starring Jackie Shroff's son Tiger Shroff.

With both films being youth centric and launching fresh pairings, faces and talent, Akshay Kumar and Ashvini Yardi took the commendable decision to shift the release date of Fugly to the 13th June 2014, to avoid splitting the audience share.

Ashvini Yardi says: "Akshay and I both share our individual friendship with Sajid and we took the joint decision to inform Sajid that we would shift our release date to 13th June 2014.

Both our films are youth oriented films and mark the launch of promising newcomers in our industry. It's important to give both the films the chance they deserve and it wouldn't be fair to divide the audience. Although the genres may be similar, their individual subject matters are very unique."

Sajid, Ashvini and Akshay are longstanding friends and Akshay and Ashvini's gesture to shift the release date of Fugly will only cement their friendship.

Fugly is a coming-of-age drama set in the by lanes of Delhi, and marks Akshay Kumar and Ashvini Yardi's second Hindi venture after the Blockbuster success of OMG - Oh My God! Produced under Akshay Kumar and Asjvini Yardi’s production banner  Grazing Goat Pictures’ and directed by Kabir Sadanand, ‘Fugly’, is a story of four friends: Dev, Devi, Gaurav and Aditya and how this carefree bunch, at the threshold of their lives, get caught in a ‘Fugly’ incident, which sucks them slowly into the big bad world of corruption, politics and the real society in the capital. The entertainingly original Fugly is wacky, kitsch and puts the best of friends through the most bizarre events of their life - the game is FUGLY!

The central characters are played magnificently by an ensemble of some of the freshest faces to emerge from India: Anil Kapoor’s nephew Mohit Marwah, Olympic medalist Boxer Vijender Singh, grandniece of Sayed Jaffery, Kiara Advani and Slumdog Millionaire actor Arfi Lamba will make their Bollywood debuts in the film.
