Sonam Kapoor’s desi touch at Cannes: Showcases ‘Indian Temple Jewellery’

Kalyan Jewellers’ global brand ambassador – Sonam Kapoor – showcased an exquisite pair of Polki diamond studded Jhumkas at the Amfar Gala yesterday at Cannes Film Festival 2016. Rhea Kapoor along with the design team of Kalyan Jewellers specially handcrafted two pairs of Jhumkas for Sonam Kapoor’s first ever Amfar dinner. These Jhumkas comprise an intricate crafting of diamonds, Red Rubies, and queen-sized Pearls within a pattern of temple jewellery with flowers, petals and deities.

The first pair of Jhumkas worn by Sonam weighs 144.44 Carats with a combination of Polki diamonds of 6.95 Carats, diamonds of 2 Carats, Rubies- 1.63 Carats and Pearls- 41.05 Carats. And the second jhumka pair will be 93.31 CT with a combination of Polki diamonds of 7.26 Carats, diamonds of 1.32 Carats, Rubies 0 .65 Carats and Pearl 30.45 Carats.

Kalyan recently launched a Polki collection in the name of “ Tejasvi” and has an in-house collection ‘Nimah’ – Heritage jewellery. These Jhumkas are a combination of these two product ranges.

The Cannes Festival (French: Festival de Cannes), named until 2002 as the International Film Festival (Festival international du film) and known in English as the Cannes Film Festival, is an annual film festival held in Cannes, France, which previews new films of all genres, including documentaries, from around the world. Founded in 1946, it is one of the most publicised, together with the Berlin International Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival. The invitation-only festival is held annually (usually in May) at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès.
