184 films from 32 countries makes its way to the 7th Chambal International Film Festival


Desperate to carve a new image of Chambal region, the 7th Chambal International Film Festival, the first film festival of the Chambal Valley and the ravines, is gradually gaining popularity among filmmakers from India and abroad, making its place in the film making society. This is one of the foremost reasons that the seventh edition of Chambal International Film Festival to be held in Dholpur, has received a staggering total of 184 films in various categories from 32 countries including India, Taiwan, America, Britain, Vietnam, Egypt, Australia, Iran, Spain, Portugal, Serbia & Turkey. These include feature films, short films, documentaries, web series and mobile films.

The organizer of Chambal International Film Festival, Dr. Shah Alam Rana said that the jury members have officially selected 103 films after a thorough review of all the films. Some of the best and selected films from these will be showcased and screened during the two-day film festival.

This year's jury comprises five eminent personalities across the globe that include Dr. Anusha Srinivasan Iyer, who is famous as a concerned journalist and a global award-winning writer-director. Her short film 'Saare Sapne Apne Hain' based on child labour, hope and happiness won over 128 awards and was screened in over 150 national and international film festivals. she is followed by another renowned celebrity Manya Pathak on the jury who is not only a popular actress Manya Pathak but is an acclaimed entrepreneur as well. She has acted in Zee TV's reality show 'Delhi Darlings', 'Acid Attack' along with music videos 'Tauba Meri Tauba', 'Yeh Raaste' and many others. Her short film 'Pratyantar' has been in the running in the 2022 Cannes and has received awards and accolades across the globe. These two are supported by Albania-based film director, writer and lecturer Valmir Tertini. His films have been part of hundreds of film festivals around the world. He has received 19 international and 3 national awards. He teaches film and mass communication at the University of Tirana, as well as writes frequently for films and TV and for newspapers in Kosovo, Albania and Macedonia. He also has to his credit Four books that have been published.

Another international name in the jury is of the renowned Azerbaijan film maker Jalaluddin Gasimov. He is the author of 6 historical novels and award-winning writer, producer and director of films like 'Scholler's Archive', 'Execution Day', 'The First Success of Nobel Brothers' and 'Stalin's Dark Past'. His first film 'Scholler's Archive' is based on a true story. It was not only very successful at international film festivals, but also won the most awards and achievements that any film from Azerbaijan has ever had on the international stage. His film 'Sholler's Archive' has even received a certificate from US Congressman Jimmy Gomez.

The Jury Chairman this year is writer and director Prof. Dr. Mohan Das, who is also the Festival Chairman of Chambal International Film Festival. He is associated with dozens of film festivals around the world not only as Member of Jury, but also as Festival Director & Chairman. He has been working tirelessly to provide opportunities for talented filmmakers and artistes at multiple global platforms to promote Indian cinema, art, culture and science.

Recently, the poster of the 7th Chambal International Film Festival, which is going to be held grandly in the Municipal Council Auditorium of Dholpur on 9th-10th September under the banner of Chambal family, Awam ka Cinema & Eon Films, was released by District Collector Anil Kumar AgarwalThe organizers are working relentlessly to make the film festival a historic success.
