Wondering what is our Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh doing with Suhaib Ilyaasi? Well, he is not our PM, but in fact Gurmeet Singh, the lookalike of our PM who is featuring in "498A - The Wedding gift" that is directed by Suhaib Ilyasi, the very famous host of crime show “India’s Most Wanted”. Gurmeet Singh, who looks exactly like prime minister of India Manmohan Singh, plays the eminent real life character on reel.
It’s said that inspiration to Filmmakers often come from their own life stories. One such case is of Suhaib Ilyasi who was charged under the Dowry Act (498A) after his wife committed suicide in 2000. Suhaib ‘s film is based on the criminal act 498A and hence the title “498A - The Wedding Gift” because in Indian law belongs to dowry cases in the country. However, his movie is a commercial movie on misuse of criminal act 498A of IPC of 1860. “My movie is based on a section of the IPC, 498A jo dahej lene waalon ko rokne ke liye banaya gaya tha. But it's being completely misused these days and this is what we have tried to portray through this movie,” says Suhaib.
The film that is 90% complete is produced under the banner of Aliya Productions Pvt Ltd. and stars Gurmeet Singh alongwith Alok Nath, Reema Lagoo, Farida Jalal, Supriya Karnik, Deepak Tijori etc. The leads of the film are played by new comers Harsh Nagar and Shrishti Gautam. Beautiful melodies are sung by Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chouhan and Shaan.
