Sonam Kapoor, who last starred in the romantic comedy The Zoya Factor
alongside Dulquer Salmaan, is making a comeback as the lead in the police
procedural film Blind. In the movie, she plays a visually-impaired officer who
is on the trail of a serial killer. Despite her disability, Sonam's character
is shown in the teaser relentlessly pursuing the killer. Although we only get
brief glimpses of the killer, he appears to be a fierce antagonist.
A crime thriller film directed by Shome Makhija and produced by Sujoy
Ghosh, Hyunwoo Thomas Kim and others, Blind features Sonam Kapoor with Purab
Kohli, Vinay Pathak and Lillete Dubey. Extensively shot in Glasgow, Scotland,
Blind is a remake of the 2011 Korean film of the same name, the shoot of the
film wrapped up on 13 February 2021. The film that was scheduled to release in
2021 will now finally see the light of the day. After a wait of nearly two
years, the film will now premiere on 7 July 2023 on JioCinema.
Sonam Kapoor had taken a break from acting when she relocated to London
during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. She only made a cameo
appearance in Vikramaditya Motwane's AK vs AK, which starred her father Anil
Kapoor, brother Harshvardhan Kapoor, and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. However,
when the opportunity for Blind came up there was no way, she could turn down
the offer. She had always been an ardent admirer of Ghosh’s body of work. And with
the film being shot in Scotland, it was very fitting for them to collaborate.
According to sources, the audience might get a chance to see Sonam’s another
stellar performance since Neerja. The plot revolves around an ex-cop who goes
blind in an accident that happens while she hunts down a criminal. How she
chases him down in spite her physical disability, centres around Sonam’s
character. Sonam, who has never done an action film before, kicks some serious
butt in this Korean remake. A pity that her efforts would not be seen on the
big screen.
However, with she being away from limelight for nearly three years, it
remains to be seen if she can make an effective comeback with Blind.
