The trailer of Lust Stories 2 is now out. Brace yourselves as Netflix
drops the scintillating trailer for the much-awaited second edition of its
Emmy-nominated anthology, Lust Stories 2. Produced by the visionary duo of Ashi
Dua and Ronnie Screwvala, Lust Stories 2 is poised to make waves when it
premieres exclusively on Netflix on June 29, the trailer promises four intriguing
stories.
Four extraordinary directors—Amit Ravindernath Sharma, Konkona Sen
Sharma, R. Balki, and Sujoy Ghosh—invite audiences into a realm where desire
takes center stage, presenting their distinct visions of lust. With an
impressive ensemble cast including Kajol, Kumud Mishra, Neena Gupta, Tamannaah
Bhatia, Amruta Shubhash, Angad Bedi, Mrunal Thakur, Tillotama Shome and Vijay
Varma, this collection of films promises to redefine the boundaries of
storytelling.
The trailer of Lust Stories 2 starts with Neena Gupta comparing one's
body to Mt. Fuji, where lust erupts just like a volcano. Since she plays a
grandmother, her son and daughter-in-law can't help but save face. To make
matters worse for them, she suggests her granddaughter sleep with her
prospective husband as a ‘test drive.’ No wonder such a hard-hitting story had
to come from an ace director like R. Balki, who could handle it with ease and comic.
Sharing his unique perspective on lust, R. Balki says, "Lust is
natural and most important in a relationship. It’s critical for all to
recognise it. I wanted to create a lust story that a family can watch together.
Why should a story of lust always make for exciting solo viewing and be
uncomfortable for family viewing when families are created by love and lust? Neena
Gupta, Mrunal and Angad have brought to life this simple, hilarious tale in the
most charming way possible. Having partners like Netflix, RSVP and Flying
Unicorn trust me to create a film for this reputed anthology has been immensely
gratifying. I hope it's a story that will resonate with people.”
Speaking of house helps, in a story helmed by none other than Konkona
Sen Sharma, Tillotama Shome's character spies her house help (Amruta Subhash)
sleeping with a delivery guy. She's seen telling a friend on phone, “Seema didi
on my bed!” Later in the scene, the employer and the employee are seen arguing
who's filthier.
Konkona who is making her directorial debut for a short film with this
story, discussed her excitement about the project. “There is something
exhilarating about a woman getting her rightly deserved freedom and taking
control of her life and this is exactly what I wanted to showcase in my
anthology for Lust Stories 2. I was quite thrilled and excited when I was
approached to do this project. Lust for me, like many, is a forbidden topic and
I wanted to break away from the norm which was only possible because of my
wonderful co-writer Pooja Tolani. I couldn't have asked for a better cast than
Amruta and Tillotama, who worked so in sync with each other!”
“This time lust stories are all about the different shades of
Lust," said Sujoy Ghosh. In his story, Vijay Varma's character is seen
sneaking into the home of his lover from 10 years ago, played by Tamannaah
Bhatia. But she objects to sleeping with him because he's married.
Speaking about his association with Lust Stories 2, Sujoy Ghosh says: “I
am so glad that RSVP, Flying Unicorn and Netflix brought this opportunity to
me, and that our lust story will be watched by audiences in 190 countries.
Tamannah and Vijay brought the film to life just as I had imagined it, and I am
hoping audiences will enjoy seeing their chemistry on screen.”
In another story, Kajol's character suspects her husband Kumud Mishra
is lusting for their house help. She gets her replaced, much to his chagrin. Looking
refreshing in a simple, middle-class de-glam avatar, Kajol is likely to perform
an intense scene with Kumud, a glimpse of which you can see in the trailer.
This refreshing take is handled by none other than the accomplished Amit
Ravindernath Sharma. “When Netflix, Ronnie and Ashi approached me to be a part
of their Emmy Nominated anthology Lust Stories, it was an immediate yes for me.
It was truly an exceptional experience to work with actors like Kajol and Kumud
Mishra to bring this complex and edgy vision of lust to the audiences. Lust has
multiple shades and this film of mine depicts the lust for power and ambition,”
Amit shared his thoughts.
