Manhattan Short 2014 in India to conduct special workshops with experts

Manhattan Short 2014, the international platform which showcases, celebrates and awards short films from across the world will also conduct a variety of workshops covering different aspects of short film making. Manhattan Short 2014, the India chapter will be held from 3rd October 2014 to 5th October 2014 at the Sitara Studio in Mumbai.

The opening discussion titled ‘The Short Film Industry: Boom!’ seeks to shine the light on the commercial viability of short films. The panel discussion includes proponents and supporters of short films such as Mr. Saamer Mody Managing Director, Pocket Films, renowned film maker Paromita Vohra and Avijit Mukul Kishore, film-maker and Co-Curator of The FD Zone.

Other workshops/ master classes include:

“Joys of Film Editing” with Film Editors Dipika Kalra and Antara Lahiri on 3rd October, 2014, Friday, at 6.00pm to 6.45 pm at Sitara Studios. Dipika Kalra is a renowned film editor of various films like Udaan, Lootera, My Friend Pinto and others. Antara Lahiri has edited films like Bewakoofiyan, Mere Dad ki Maruti, and others. This workshop aims to be a resource to help upcoming film makers with various thoughtful insights from the experts. The workshop will be benefited with the plethora of expertise and knowledge of these masters of cinema.

Renowned Film Critic Bhawna Somaaya will conduct a workshop on the 4th October, from 2.00pm to 2.45 pm, sharing her experiences of film making, and presenting her debut short film that she has made with winner of “Vote for India initiative” Stalin Massey.
Ashvin Kumar, Oscar-nominated filmmaker for his film ‘Little Terrorist’, will be in conversation with Udita Jhunjhunwala talking about making an Oscar-worthy short film. On 5th October, at 6.00 pm to 6.45 pm, Ashvin Kumar will discuss the various technicalities involved in short film making. Please see below the details of the workshop:

Topic: “Making an Oscar-worthy short film” by Ashvin Kumar in conversation with Udita Jhunjhunwala
Time: 6.00 pm to 6.45 pm
